Runners

IMG_6017-1

Having taken loads of photo’s of the Ballycotton 10 Road race, in March, I thought maybe I should do something with them. I am constantly trying to change my style and I have a couple of ideas about the background , rather than using what’s in the photo, but I would be interested in ideas from others.

This is the photo I used as a reference, as you can see I have not tried to include all the runners and not tried to do recognizable faces.

  1. This is off to a good start! (excuse the pun) I think it needs a simple background, I quite like the idea of them running by the sea, perhaps on the sand instead of the road?

  2. Hi Phil,

Wow, change of style indeed and you pulled it off fantastically.
Like Cathy, I also like the idea of them running by the sea...in fact, the background that is on the photo is perfect.
    Wonderful.

  3. I'd be interested to see what it looks like with no background - just some simple shadows to 'anchor' the runners

  4. My mind is devoid of ideas at the moment - actually I'd be interested to see what you have in mind. It is often difficult for me to figure out how to put figures in alternative locales, so it would be neat to see. I love the group drawing of runners. So interesting and engaging!

  5. I had to giggle because when I first started reading your post and you said, "I thought maybe I should do something with them"., I thought you meant you had joined them in the running! Man after my own heart, tho .... more fun to draw them that to be out there running! I like your drawing very much and am looking forward to seeing what you decide to do next! nancy

  6. I love how you're able to capture their expressions and the shape of their bodies... but you've changed the colors of their clothes, and in a way, you've made them look like prints which I really like. I could totally see this on a T-shirt or something ^^ well drawn!
