Once again the Ballycotton 10mile road race has come and gone, it was on yesterday and it reminded me that I had not embarrassed my son by posting the painting of him that I did when he ran the race for the first time. It was on his list of things to do before he reached 40, and he achieved both last year. So there you are , I have suitably shamed him and probably ruined any chance I had of becoming a portrait painter.
Well I think it's great Phil.
ReplyDeleteAnd the background gives that sense of real movement.
What paint did you use, is it acrylic?
And did your son run yesterday?

Hi Stew, thanks for that. It's oil on canvas and no... he couldn't get into it this year, there were over 3000 runners, not bad for a little fishing village in East Cork.
ReplyDeleteGreat action portrait! Happy belated 40th birthday to your son.
ReplyDeleteHe looks DASHING....!
ReplyDeletenice portrait drawing! the facial expression you captured is so great.
ReplyDeleteGreat painting of your son, and I'm sure he loves it! Nike might want it too! nancy
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job with the portrait! :) Love the colors, and lots of energy. I wouldn't be ashamed at all if I were him, in fact..the total opposite ^^
ReplyDeleteWhy do parents take such delight in embarrassing their children? I think you failed as it's a great painting and your son achieved success in racing.
ReplyDeleteI thinks it's just jealousy on the part of the parents Sue!
