First Painting of 2015(Kind of)

IMG_1317-001
I started this at the tail end of 2014 and finished it on New Years Day. One of my students allowed me to use a photo she had taken in the woods in Glengarrif, in Co Cork, and I immediately thought it would be great to try as a tryptich with a palette knife. I rearranged the picture a bit as you can see as the large tree was blocking the view of the waterfall.

  1. Great way to start 2015. Love the results as a tryptich and the rearrangement certainly impacted the results. Color palette awesome! I'm homesick to paint. Haven't for awhile as I'm working on illustrations. After looking at your paintings I think I'm going to have to finish one of mine that has been sitting for months. Cheers-Darlene

  2. Hello Phil.
This works so well and is beautifully done. I'm guessing it is oil.
Each one would work as a single painting but together it's amazing!

    2. You used a pallet knife?? Wow...! I thought it was all brush work. It's an incredible tryptich :-)
I've just been told they have found more hot spots. They are not certain it is cancer but with my history...I'll be having more CT, MRI and PET scans soon.
I hope you and your family are well.
      Happy New Year!
      Stew.
