Here’s yet another painting I have been fighting with for quite a while, but finally I think it’s going somewhere. I am thinking of putting a large silver birch on the right hand foreground with maybe a Grey Heron sitting underneath.Still got to add a few more reflections and bits and pieces. Have a class this morning and then gonna spend the afternoon trying to finish it. Will post an update in the next couple of days .
Phil, Great composition on this one! It draws me right into the landscape and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished work.
ReplyDeleteWow, Phil - I love it. If you had said it was finished I would have believed you. Looks great just as it is. Been looking at some of your other posts and I think your work is truly fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks to your photo of the Common Dog Violet, I now know what it is I keep seeing all over Portland, Dorset as well as Lesser Celandine.
You have made me itching to start painting again after a few weeks of being unwell.

It's beautiful, Phil. You know what you want to do, of course, but I agree with "PlasticUnicorn" (above) that it looks great as it is. Sandy is right, it draws the eye right in and up that lazy river....
ReplyDelete'PlasticUnicorn'...lol. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is not done? I love it like this. But I suppose you know best ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely beautiful as is, but I love herons so I look forward to the addition.
ReplyDeleteI quite like this painting, Phil. I look forward to its completion.
ReplyDeleteooh it looks so cool and inviting. it's quite humid today in Sydney, looking at your painting is like having a cool glass of water!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Phil! I would have thought it finished, but the addition of the heron doesn't seem like it would hurt. Look forward to seeing it completed!
ReplyDeleteA great painting with or without the heron, I like the sense of distance you have created.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting...like it without the heron but sure it will look fantastic with it too
ReplyDeletelooks like this is going to be another masterpiece =) love those trees and water, and I can't get enough of the sky
